Alcohol Use Disorder
You deserve a provider who understands that alcohol use disorder involves real changes in brain function — and that effective, evidence-based treatment exists to help you move forward.
AUD exists on a spectrum from mild to severe, and many individuals with the condition do not recognize that what they are experiencing meets clinical criteria. The transition from heavy drinking to alcohol use disorder can be gradual, and the neurological changes that drive dependence often develop before the individual is fully aware of them.
Alcohol use disorder is highly treatable. A comprehensive psychiatric evaluation determines the severity of the condition, identifies co-occurring mental health disorders, and establishes an individualized treatment plan that may include medication, monitoring, and coordinated care.
This practice provides only Alcohol Use Disorder maintenance oral medication treatment with Naltrexone (Revia) and Acamprosate (Campral).
AUD presents differently across individuals and exists on a spectrum of severity. These are the most common patterns we evaluate and address in treatment.
Drinking more than intended or for longer than planned, despite repeated intentions to cut back or stop — a core hallmark of alcohol use disorder at any severity level.
Needing increasingly larger amounts of alcohol to feel the same effect, and experiencing physical withdrawal symptoms — such as tremors, sweating, or anxiety — when use decreases.
Continuing to drink despite negative effects on health, relationships, employment, legal standing, or personal well-being — often despite a genuine desire to stop.
Spending significant time thinking about alcohol, obtaining it, using it, or recovering from its effects — with alcohol progressively organizing daily priorities and decisions.
Alcohol use disorder can be difficult to self-identify. These signs may indicate that your relationship with alcohol warrants a clinical evaluation.
Alcohol use disorder occurs on a spectrum. You do not need to be drinking daily or have lost everything to benefit from evaluation and treatment. If alcohol is causing problems in your life, it is worth addressing.
Problematic alcohol use, difficulty controlling drinking, tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, drinking despite consequences, alcohol dependence, co-occurring depression or anxiety

Diagnosis is made through a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation based on DSM-5 criteria. The evaluation assesses the pattern, frequency, and consequences of alcohol use, as well as the presence of tolerance, withdrawal, and impaired control.
Yes. AUD is not defined by frequency alone but by the pattern and consequences of use. Binge drinking on weekends can meet diagnostic criteria for AUD if it causes significant impairment, loss of control, or other clinical indicators.
FDA-approved medications include naltrexone, acamprosate, and disulfiram. The most appropriate option will be determined during your evaluation based on your health history, severity of AUD, and treatment goals.

It depends on the severity of your alcohol use. Severe dependence can produce dangerous withdrawal symptoms that require medically supervised detox. Your evaluation will help determine the appropriate first step and whether detox is necessary before other treatment begins.
